We are excited to be a Network Kansas E-Community! Hodgeman County Economic Development made application to become an e-community in 2015 and was awarded.
What is an e-community you may ask?
A Network Kansas Entrepreneurship (E-) Community is a partnership that allows a town, a cluster of towns or an entire county to raise seed money for local entrepreneurs through donations from individuals or businesses within the community. At the core of the E-Community concept is a loan fund. The loan fund is intended as gap financing that the community has local decision making over which business to loan the money to. Selected communities partner with NetWork Kansas to establish their own local loan fund and then, by working closely with a NetWork Kansas E-Community coach, they engage in strategic planning, initiate activities and introduce entrepreneurship programming to generate entrepreneurial development. The end result is participation in a statewide partnership with other E-communities to share best practices that can increase start-ups, engage existing businesses and facilitate transitions. The goal of the E-Community partnership is to increase entrepreneurial activity and to develop a self-sustaining ecosystem favorable to long term entrepreneurial growth.
